The River Avon may not seem the ideal place to sail at first glance - but great sailing can be enjoyed on this water. Our sailing area is nearly a mile long - extending upriver around the S bend to the Bristol to Bath Cycleway bridge. Downriver, the area is limited by the weir outside the Jolly Sailor public house.
We have a large dinghy park, and a pleasant clubhouse with wonderful views across the river towards Kelston and the hills beyond.
Races are held every Sunday between March and November and on Thursday evenings during the summer months. A RYA accredited training course is run every spring for members — beginners and juniors.
The river provides a challenging racing course for both novice and experienced sailors, young and old alike. Classes sailed include the British Moth, Comet, Graduate, Laser, Lightning, Mirror and Topper.
