Bristol Avon Sailing Club was founded in 1955 by a band of local sailors keen to make use of the River Avon on their doorstep for the then rapidly expanding sport of dinghy sailing.
The club has grown enormously since then and now has a fine purpose built clubhouse with recently refurbished changing rooms, licensed bar, galley and large club room.
We are a medium-sized but still very friendly club with new and long standing members always willing to lend a hand to youngsters and beginners.
The club has two safety boats to provide cover for all club sailors whether they are cruising, racing or youngsters capsizing their Topper dinghies just for fun.
Several club-owned training boats are available for occasional loan to new club members to help them get into the swing of things. These boats - Toppers and Comets - enable beginners to get on the water prior to taking a decision on which of the many different types and classes of boat would suit them best to buy. A second-hand sailing dinghy can be bought for as little as £300.
Various memberships are available for families, juniors and singles, see the table given below.
So if you want to start sailing, improve your skills or just love mucking about in boats, come and give us a try. You are guaranteed a warm welcome.
Call into the clubhouse any Sunday or Thursday evening, or telephone the clubhouse on 01225 873472
