BASC isn't just all about sailing and boats - it has a great social side too with events organised throughout the year to provide a true family feel.

Quiz evenings, skittles nights, indoor "horse" racing nights, murder mystery nights, slide shows - the list of events held in recent years is endless.

The big event of the calendar is the annual Regatta - held over two days with music, dancing and on-site camping punctuating the hotly contested racing on the water. The annual en-mass camping trip to beautiful Studland Bay is a firm favourite too.

Commodore's Day in the autumn provides everyone with a day to use the water for something other than for racing, cruising or learning to sail. Novelty events such as paddling a dismasted Topper dinghy, or a paper boat race, are laid on by the Commodore of the club.

Through the winter activities continue with events such as a Halloween party, a Christmas children's party, and the club annual dinner. The bar opens most Thursday evenings through the winter.

If you want a decent social side to your sailing then BASC is the place for you. A sense of humour is definitely a distinct advantage.
